SOURCE OF AIR POLLUTION
1.Mobile Sources
Mobile sources such as cars, motorcycles, bus and trains will released out waste gas that will pollute the environment. The increase in usage of motor vehicles will increase the released of harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, hydrocarbon and also nitrogen oxide. All this gases are risk for our health, the environment and will effect the climate.
2.Stationary Sources
Beside motor vehicles, stationary sources such as power plants, oil refineries and factories do releases harmful gases to the environment. Cities with high percentage of industrial facilities and factories will face serious air pollution problem due to lack of pollution control.
3. Area Sources
Area sources are from agricultural areas, cities and open burning activities in resident areas. Activities such as smoking, rubbish or waste material burning will contribute to increase in air pollution. The harmful gas that is produces from this activities not only will effect health, it may also cause death to the weak patients that inhale it.
4.Natural Sources
Last but not least, we have natural sources such as volcanoes and wildfires. The explosion of active volcanoes and the happening of wildfires are the sources of air pollution but it is different from the three other sources said early as this kind of sources is not able to prevented all the time.
Effects of air pollution
1. Visibility
Haze is usually occur in highly air polluted areas and may also occur if a huge wildfire or explosion of volcanoes happens. Drivers will lose their visibility to surrounding when haze happens in their areas. This will cause their life is danger and to other road passenger too. The situation will get worsen when all the public transport such as bus has to stop their schedule till the air pollution is back to healthy level. Many people including students and workers will face problem of transportation.
2.Human health
A common effect of air pollution is on the human health. As i mention above early, many harmful gases are released from motor vehicles and factories. All this harmful gases will damage our health when we inhale it. Lung cancer and lung diseases are few examples of effects of long-term inhalation of polluted air.
3. Ecological
Air pollutants can also harm the water quality, soil, plants and animals. This harmful gases will be bring in rain and cause serious soil pollution. Animals and plants will also face problems when they absorb this polluted air
Ways to overcome air pollution
There are many simple ways that can be taken to reduce and overcome air pollution. But before i list out the solution, i would like to state the most important steps in this process. "DON'T JUST READ AND FORGET THE NEXT COUPLE HOUR, BUT APPLY IT IN YOUR DAILY LIFE". Yes, this is the most important and crucial step. That is no benefits of keeping or knowing various stuff if we do not know how to use it or apply it in real life. And so here are some of the solution to air pollution.
1. Car Pooling
2.Plant more plants
3.Stop open burning
4.Reduce smoking
5. Check car emissions regularly
6. Minimize air freshener used
7. Authority take action against those factories that emit harmful gases
8. Use public transportation
Air pollution is not something new that is happening worldwide, but still this problem has not been solved till today. As i said early, air pollution is happening all around the world especially in highly developing countries such as California and also China. The index of air pollution can be seen is the few pictures below taken from (http://aqicn.org/map/china/#@g/31.1821/107.1826/4z). The air index is good for 0 to 100 and unhealty starting from 100 till 500.
